AJ Shively

A.J. SHIVELY is a Tony Award–nominated actor best known for his work on Broadway, television, and prestigious concert and theater stages across the country. He earned Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Chita Rivera Award nominations for his performance in the Broadway musical Paradise Square, and received a Drama Desk nomination for originating the role of Jimmy Ray Dobbs in Bright Star in addition to his Broadway debut in La Cage Aux Folles. Off-Broadway, Shively received the Theatre World Awards’ Dorothy Loudon Award and additional Drama Desk and Lucille Lortel nominations for his acclaimed turn in Philadelphia, Here I Come! at the Irish Repertory Theatre. He won the Lucille Lortel Award for A Man of No Importance at Classic Stage Company, with additional credits including Titanic (Encores!), February House (The Public Theater), and Unlock’d (Prospect Theater Company). Shively has appeared to critical acclaim regionally at Arena Stage, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Center Theatre Group, The Old Globe, Pittsburgh CLO, and with the Boston Pops, among others. On screen, his work includes roles on Chicago Med (NBC), Julia (HBO Max), Bull (CBS), Hunters (Amazon), Homeland (Showtime), Madam Secretary (CBS), The Blacklist (NBC), and Younger (TV Land), as well as the films Other People’s Bodies, Nobody Walks in LA, From Nowhere, and HairBrained. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and trained additionally at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
